Supervisor’s Office Responsibilities
The Supervisor’s Office is responsible for monitoring the overall operations of the Township and its departments. Some specific duties include preparing the annual budget and making board/committee appointments as well as serving on various boards and committees. In addition to the Township Board, Mr. VanWashenova is a member of the following: Building Committee, Frenchtown Senior Citizens Board – Township Liaison, Hiring Committee, Road Committee, Sewer Control Board – Chairperson, Township Development Committee, Union Bargaining Committee. He also sits on the Executive Board of SEMCOG, is Vice Chair for EPAC and serves as Chairperson of the Personnel Committee on the United Way Executive Board. The Supervisor submits information for Township Board meeting agendas and chairs those meetings. The Supervisor is Personnel Director, being responsible for employee/personnel matters (including hiring) and record maintenance. He is available to all residents and interested parties to discuss and address concerns on Township issues, plans, questions, problems and/or complaints regarding Frenchtown. Working with other municipalities and the various levels of government also is a necessary and beneficial aspect of the position.
